Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Police stated they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure stated the attack left him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
